Role Overview

This role will appeal to an accomplished, experienced civil infrastructure/transport engineering professional who is keen to take on a leadership role in this mid-sized, Australian engineering consultancy. The role will offer more freedom and influence than equivalent roles in the larger, global consultancies and you will play a pivotal role in the continued growth of the New South Wales business.

This is a position that will be well supported by the local and national executive team who are committed to helping replicate their success interstate in the NSW market. Your role will be managing a number of disciplines/teams in the fields of transport engineering, civil structures, asset management, mining, and energy. There will also be scope for national responsibilities for those keen to contribute to the wider business.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and grow the local office, supporting the development and growth of current staff and identify hiring needs to build a cohesive, collaborative team.
  • Work hand-in-hand with your local stream leaders to expand their reach - ideally bringing your own market knowledge and an understanding of key clients like TfNSW and civil contractors as well as other clients like local councils or private entities.
  • Help the teams you oversee to strengthen their own client engagement, employing additional high-calibre talent, and driving sustainable growth in the region.
  • Lead the New South Wales team in building a clear project pipeline by positioning (and winning) direct small and mid-sized projects as well as partnering on larger, projects.

Experience and Skills Required

  • Demonstrable consulting experience in the field of transport engineering and design in New South Wales. This is less about prestige projects and more about having delivered complex, diverse projects to a high level of client satisfaction..
  • A willingness to wear multiple hats. The role will be tasked with developing business through stronger client relationships and recruiting/developing capabilities internally. It will also require oversight and, on occasion, hands-on involvement in projects and delivery of high-quality engineering solutions, particularly in the early stages of growth.
  • An understanding of connecting short term performance with long term strategy - you will inherit a capable local team that is committed and eager to increase the reach and reputation of the local business. As Regional Manager it is key that you guide the team to align with the wider organisation's goals and aspirations.
  • Business and commercial acumen. It is key that the Regional Manager understands the importance of structuring engagements commercially and managing risk/reward of different projects.
