Role Overview

This role will appeal to an accomplished, experienced transport professional who is keen to take on a leadership role in this mid-sized, Australian engineering consultancy. The role will offer more freedom and influence than equivalent roles in the larger, global consultancies and you will play a pivotal role in the growth of the New South Wales Transport business.

This is a position that will be well supported by the local and national leadership team who are committed to helping replicate their success interstate in the New South Wales market. Your role will be to build on this and look to develop a local engineering and design capability which is seen as key to a sustainable NSW business.

Key Responsibilities

  • Be the NSW Transport leader and build market visibility and brand equity in NSW.
  • Build relationships with end clients such as TfNSW and Contractors
  • Lead and grow the local transport division, identify hiring needs and build a cohesive, collaborative team.
  • Lead the NSW team in building a clear project pipeline by positioning (and winning) direct small and mid-sized projects as well as partnering on larger, projects.
  • Achieve tangible results that will help build a solid, sustainable NSW transport division that will enable the firm’s continued expansion and service offering.

Experience and Skills Required

  • Demonstrable experience in delivering civil engineering solutions in the transport industry for NSW clients. This is less about prestige projects and more about having delivered complex, diverse projects to a high level of client satisfaction.
  • A willingness to wear multiple hats. The role will be tasked with developing business through stronger client relationships and recruiting/developing capabilities internally. It will also require hands-on involvement in projects and delivery of high-quality engineering solutions, particularly in the early stages of growth.
  • Business and commercial acumen. It is key that the transport leader understands the importance of structuring engagements commercially and managing risk/reward of different projects.
  • Motivation to take on a challenging but rewarding role. The firm’s leadership is 100% committed to making this a success but is equally grounded in its expectations and will be there to support you.
